Hello, I am trying to fill up the analysis spreadsheet for Veeva.

  1. For CAPEX, I found the entry from 2014 to 2020, but from 2021 annual report onwards, I can't find the line item in the Cash Flow statement. Is it lumped elsewhere?
  2. I don't see any Term debt and Commercial Paper entries for Veeva. Does this mean that Debt = 0?
  3. For ROE in 2024, my figure is ~8% compared with the figured presented during the live seminar. Is this due to the extraordinary items which is quite large, and should I remove any thing from the extraordinary items?

Thank you!

Hi PL,

1. They seem to change the name to Long-term assets

2. Yes, they have no debt.

3. Can you share with me your number to calculate 8%?

Hi, for the year 2024, I obtained the following figures from the Income statement:
– Net Profit attr to shareholders using “Net Income” =525.705 mil
– Extraordinary items using “Other income, net” = 158.689mil
Thus plugging into the spreadsheet, Profit Attributable to Shareholders (Exc. Exceptional Items) = 367mil
From balance sheet, Equity Attributable to Shareholders = 4,644.824mil

Thus, ROE calculated = 7367/4644.824 = 7.9%

Thanks!

Hi PL,

Your figures are correct. I took the latest data from the software that we use. Their calculation is different from the way I teach in AQ. They use the net profit (excluding exceptional) over the average equity of 2023 & 2024.

You can stick to your figures.
